Chelle Apologises to Fans After Super Eagles’ 3-0 Defeat to Guinea-Bissau
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has apologised to Nigerian fans following the team’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Nigeria struggled throughout the encounter, failing to create clear-cut scoring opportunities while conceding three goals in a below-par performance.
Chelle admitted after the match that Guinea-Bissau were the better side on the night, while also pointing to the poor condition of the playing surface.
“I apologise to the fans. Guinea-Bissau were the better side. The pitch is also bad, but we accept responsibility,” Chelle said.
The defeat leaves the Super Eagles with plenty to improve on as they continue their campaign for a place at the 2027 AFCON.
Chelle and his players will now face pressure to respond positively in their next qualifier and restore confidence among the Nigerian supporters.
